Quixtar Announces Record Annual Sales of $1.1 Billion; Health & Beauty Products Fuel Growth

[Quixtar News: Oct. 21, 2004] Independent Business Owners (IBOs) powered by the Quixtar I-commerce business model generated record sales of $1.1 billion for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2004, up $65 million from the previous year. In addition, IBOs created $68.5 million in revenues for Quixtar's online Partner Stores and Services, up $10.2 million from fiscal 2003. For their business efforts, IBOs earned more than $373 million in bonuses and incentives, up $30 million from the previous year.

"We're certainly pleased with the financial results of the past fiscal year, but the biggest success belonged to IBOs who achieved record growth," said Ken McDonald, Managing Director of Quixtar. "IBOs earned a record number of bonuses and incentives this year, and we continue to look for new products to enhance their businesses and help them attract younger and more diverse IBOs and customers." Innovative product launches by Quixtar's exclusive brands led growth in 2004, including introductions of Artistry© Time Defiance© Intensive Repair Serum, the Tolsom©  Skin Care for Men line, and the clear.nowTM  acne skin care system. Quixtar also created a new focus on sports nutrition, led by the launch of several new XSTM Power Nutrition products, Quixtar's sales leader based on units purchased and overall sales volume.

"Our product focus will be to build on the strong momentum we saw this year in our health and beauty segments," said Randy Bancino, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "WeÍve achieved significant results with our XS Power Nutrition products, which support our industry leadership through Nutrilite© supplements and other top health products like the eSpring© Water Purifier and iCook© Cookware. We'll continue this focus on wellness in the upcoming year, particularly as we launch a new weight management program."

Among other significant milestones for the company in fiscal 2004 were:

Ranked #1 in online Health and Beauty sales by Internet Retailer and 12th overall for e-commerce sales.

The launch of new Partner Stores including Barnes & Noble.com, eToys, Elisabeth.com, Joann.com, Circuit City, The Golf Warehouse, and BluSphere.

Single-day sales records of $11 million set in March and $12 million set Aug. 31, the final day of fiscal 2004.

The redesign of Quixtar.com, the company's Web site that offers shopping, ordering, and business management tools for IBOs and their customers.

The launch of Quixtar Para Ti, the initiative that has helped increase sales through Hispanic IBOs by 50 percent.

Sponsorship of Easter Seals in the U.S. and Canada, including Title Sponsorship of that organization's "Walk With Me" fund-raising events. During fiscal 2004, Quixtar and IBOs contributed more than $820,000 to Easter Seals.
